As part of our theme “Construction-Building a House” we learned about different materials involved in the process of building a house. In our Science Center we had some cement, and the students were able to mix the soft powder and the water and touched and appreciate this chemical transformation.

As part of our theme “Construction-Building a House” we learned about different materials involved in the process of building a house. In our Science Center we had some cement, and the students were able to mix the soft powder and the water. They touched and appreciated this chemical transformation.

We learned how this required material used in construction had a change from soft powder, to hard cement; when mixed with water undergo a chemical reaction; resulting in a hardened mass to form concrete.
